The atmosphere there was a big plus. The three salad combination that I ordered was very good the squash casserole was awesome! I travel the country and will make a point to come here again.

Hands down best place in New Albany to eat. I'd eat here a TON if they would do a dinner service! Great sandwiches, salads, and po'boys. Love the oyster po'boy and the real pimento cheese sandwich. Shrimp and grits very good. Take home and back casserole Chicken Tetrrazzini was really good as well.

The atmosphere is terrible, whoever decorated should be fired. Apparently shrimp poboys are supposed to be covered in horseradish? And most of the ingredients taste like whatever you can buy at Walmart, and not even good name-brand stuff from Walmart. But I seriously cannot stress enough how badly decorated it is, it's this weird aesthetic some women in Mississippi like if black, white and pink which is supposed to seem high class I think but is just really, really tacky.

Tallahatchie Gourmet offers a wide selection of food you can't get anywhere else in New Albany--Po' boys, fried oysters, and shrimp and grits just to name a few! This is definitely my favorite place to eat lunch!

Great lunch menu and wonderful takeout for all occasions! We eat lunch at Tallahatchie Gourmet every time we are in New Albany. Great sandwiches, salads, po'boys and daily specials. The shrimp and grits are as good as you'll ever eat. They have an extensive menu for take-out or any type of event you are planning. They did the food for a memorial service we had for my mother. They worked with me on the phone (I live out of State) and via the Internet, helping me select a menu that included traditional Southern dishes, along with a variety of other dishes. Their menu included, an amazing selection of casseroles, main food dishes like grilled or baked chicken breasts, grilled pork chops or pork tenderloin served with your choice of vegetables, delicious desserts, fresh fruit dishes, fajitas or BBQ, even finger sandwiches! Don't forget to have them make their scratch biscuits...Their chicken salad is amazing! Their desserts include a mixed dessert tray, peach cobbler and ice cream, banana pudding, and if that's not enough, they'll make whatever you want!

Good food well prepared in a casual atmosphere. Plate lunch is well done. Sandwiches and salads are fresh and tasty. You do order at the counter but after that the service is very good. We have used them to cater numerous functions for our business and they have always delivered first rate. Give them a try you will not be disappointed.

Pretty bad experience on a Saturday evening. We went for an early dinner, and after handing us menus, the waitress disappeared for about 20 minutes. There was only one other table in the house at the time, we all kept looking around to find somebody to place an order with. Bartender observed all this but didn't lift a finger to help. He was busy doing nothing. We would find this to be a common theme throughout the meal. No refills, no taking away salad plates, no service. We reciprocated when it was time to tip. We tried to order the salmon with wasabi au jus but were curtly told that they didn't have any salmon. We both ended up ordering shrimp and grits. The highlight of the meal was the salad which came with it. Nice variety of mixed lettuces and maybe some spinach, a nice sprinkling of feta and tomatoes, a bit of artichoke, and dressing on the side. Good flavor, especially for a side salad. The shrimp and grits would have been better (but still not great) if the shrimp hadn't been old. Both of us were concerned about food safety and left most of the shrimp on the plate after we figured out where the "off" taste was coming from. The rest of the dish (grits, bits of bacon, green onions, etc.) was okay, though a bit on the greasy side. However, serving old shrimp is an amateur mistake, much like ignoring customers is an amateur mistake. Conclusion: Overrated. Won't be back, and won't recommend.

Loved this restaurant. So quaint and simple. Owner was super nice, food was delicious, atmosphere great. Drove there from Memphis and we were not disappointed. Had the plate lunch. Fried chicken was divine. As a lifelong Southern boy, I can say they got the chicken and the fried green tomatoes just right. Cannot wait to go back.

I'm always on the fence about this place. Nothing really outstanding or terribly bad. Quality really seems to depend on the time you're there and the dish you have. Service occasionally stellar, occasionally terrible. The stereotypical Southern foods (chicken, pork chops, chicken salad, etc.) have generally been decent. The fish and soups have tended to be bland for me. I find their pricing a bit high for what you get. To me a $10 po-boy is a half loaf of Gambino's holding a double handful of seafood. Not a Kroger bun with 5 or 6 popcorn shrimp, a leaf of lettuce and one tomato slice halved.

Great find in New Albany. Food and service were outstanding. There were 4 of us. Fried pickles were a great way to get started. 2 had shrimp and grits, one had the filet (cooked perfectly) and one had the triple salad (pasta, fruit and chicken). No complaints at all. We decided to finish the meal with the brownie sundae. Yummy! Not only was our server helpful with selections but very attentive and personable. The management also came by the table and not only asked about our dinners but spent a few minutes just chatting about the area with us. We will definitely be back the next time we're in New Albany and would recommend the Tallahatchie Gourmet to all.

Boring, boring food. We ordered salads with side of soup. The soup ended up being chicken gumbo. We expected a huge salad and a side cup of soup. Instead we got a small salad and a huge bowl of bland, uncooked rice gumbo, that had more rice than gumbo. I tried to put some hot sauce in it to have some type of creole/Cajun flavor but it was no help at all. For someone who's never eaten a bowl of real gumbo, this would be great. I work out of New Orleans so I'm a good judge. lol. Salad was ok, just tiny for $8.50. The menu said soup of the the day for 8.75 and $10.50 for gumbo. We asked for soup of the day but she said it was gumbo, and I asked if that was the soup of the day and she said yes. So I expected to pay $8.75. Instead, I was charged $10.50. Plus, one bowl of gumbo was cold and our rice was uncooked. Don't waste your time here. Not worth it. I gave it two stars because it was clean.

Not just great ribs, great people work here. Home made desserts too. No atmosphere, most people get a huge pan of meat and bone and go. I like sitting here listening to the local color eb and flow.

The fish tacos were great but the hospitality was very much lacking. I came in after the lunch crowd but after standing in the entrance I had to approach an employee eating at the bar who turned out to be the owner. Without acknowledging me I asked her if they were still serving lunch. Her reply....."yes what do you want?" I hadn't been offered a seat or a menu so my response was "I don't know yet what do you have.?" It's just a shame that in this charming little town, this seemingly charming bistro had no charm at all.

When you are working in a small town, it's a good idea to ask where you should eat. This place was highly recommended by locals so I gave it a shot and was very satisfied. If you like southern food, look no further.. Here's your stop. I had a delicious pork chop, fried green tomatoes, turnip greens, and corn bread. I could've licked the plate clean like a dog

Southern Charm! Although the decor could use an update. I have eaten here a few times while in the area on business. Food Review Chicken Salad: Homemade, creamy, delicious, no fruit; so it's more savory in flavor. They will toast white or wheat bread for you. If you get it to go, you get a marshmallow chocolate brownie & chips. The brownie is delicious. Grilled Fish Tacos: absolutely divine!! The fish is blackened & moist , not fishy & the sauce served with it compliments the fish perfectly. Blackened Basa with Grits: melt in your mouth--Delicious!!! Served with side salad, spinach, & a dinner roll. (I'm not sure if the quanity was worth $15.50!) Service Review Southern charm at its finest! Plenty of "Hi ya'll" & "Ya'll come back!" But then again, what would you expect from New Albany, MS? Very friendly, very laid back, very knowledgable about the menu, & very attentive to meeting the customers requests! I will definitely return many times to dine here!!
